How far is too farViews: 279

Hi, I am Misty. I am posting this blog for my husband whom just recently had his thyroid removed due to cancer. Today Oct. 10, 2008 2 days after having the surgery he was let go from his job because he has missed work. We are a family of 4, we have 2 great kids and even one that has mild cerebral palsy. I am so shocked that a company would let someone go for this reason. I am a stay at home mom and now we don’t have an income. I know that God will take care of our needs he always has but I still want to know why people can be so heart-less. I really believe what you sow you will reap and all I can do is pray for this company and his former boss.

Hi, Misty.
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I was also let go from my work this week after requesting a time off to attend to my chemo. I know how angry, frustrated, and devastated you and your husband must be. What a heartless employer. With all the awareness about cancer now days, we expect employers to be a little more understanding and compassionate. Have you considered legal actions against this company? I spoke with someone from American Disability Network (800-526-7234)regarding my situation, and I was told that I should file a complaint with the state fair employment office. They told me that it was completely against the American Disabilties Act that my employer teminated me. So, I think your husband should also file a complaint.

Hi Misty…

Welcome!

So sorry to hear about your husband losing his job. Cancer alone is stressful enough & then to lose your job on top of it, that’s just cruel.

Yuyu is going through a similar situation & has left some good info for you. I would definitely call the phone number she posted & file a complaint.

I’m sorry you are having to go through all this. Scary times, no doubt. I will keep you in my prayers.

Blessings to you and yours,

Monica

Hi there welcome.

The words I want to use are not appropriate for this forum…

What is wrong with these people/companies??! I see this happen all to often, and I am outraged!

I’m sorry that your husband and family are enduring this. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi, I was sorry to hear that your husband lost his job after finding out about have thryoid cancer. I had the same thing happen to me when I was diagnosed over two years ago so i know what it’s like. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
